Who's Who . . . in BUG

Return
  Ivonne Azurdia

IVONNE AZURDIA (R.C.) is delighted to be working at GableStage for the first time. A graduate of New World School of the Arts college, she is pleased to appear with Todd Durkin and Gregg Weiner, both of whom also attended NWSA. She is a proud member of Mad Cat Theatre Company, as both an acting member and as Resident Playwright. Recently Ivonne was seen as Gina in Paul Tei's, Artful Dodgers, Betty in Christopher Durang's Betty's Summer Vacation and Alex in Trembling Hands (which she also wrote). Other writing credits include: Portrait, which received the 2001 Curtain Up Award for Best New Play and Tin Box Boomerang which won the 2003 Carbonell Best New Play Award. Ivonne has also worked on stage with Trap Door Theatre, Actors' Playhouse and Femenino Plural. She would like to thank Joe Adler for this wonderful opportunity, Paul for encouraging her on a daily basis, and her beautiful mom, wonderful Aunt Cris, and Uncle Bill for their unrelenting support and love. Thank you.

  David Caprita

DAVID CAPRITA (Jerry Goss) is delighted to return to S. Florida for another Joseph Adler production. Since the late 80s, some of the wildest characters Caprita has portrayed have been under Adler's tutelage: Glengarry Glen Ross, The Root, Road to Nirvana and most recently, Killer Joe, for which Caprita was a 2000 Carbonell Award nominee for Best Actor. He has appeared in several films and on TV over the years, among which are The Specialist, My Girl, The Shield and Michael Mann's Robbery Homicide Division. David has studied with Larry Silverberg in Miami and Seattle, and Martin Barter in LA. He currently is writing and performing at the Sanford Meisner Center in LA, and has performed and written almost 100 comedy bits and one-acts for a weekly comedy show in Hollywood, CA. For those who remember David on S. Florida radio from years ago, he is still on the air with LA's smooth jazz station, The Wave. David dedicates this performance to Martin Barter, Wylie Small, Frank Kreuger and all the other partners in crime at the SMC for their immense help in preparing for Bug. And special thanks to "Li'l Ellen" Rae Littman for her love and support, without whom he would be sleeping in a Culver City gutter instead of now performing at GableStage.

  Todd Allen Durkin

TODD ALLEN DURKIN (Peter Evans) recently returned to the S. Florida stage after 8 years in New York. He was last seen in Mad Cat's production of Artful Dodgers. Todd trained at New World School of the Arts. His theatrical credits include: Much Ado About Nothing, Midsummer Nights Dream, The Tempest, Love's Labour's Lost, Touchstone in As You Like It, Hamlet in Hamlet, Riff-Cat Polito in The Virtual Adventures of Riff-Cat Polito, BUMP, Beggar on Horseback, Gus in The Pea, Salt-Water Moon, Agamemnon, and Lenny Bruce in Julian Barry's Lenny, for which he was a Carbonell nominee and was named Best Actor in a Comedy by Miami New Times. Todd has worked at NY's Cherry Lane Theatre, Theatrix Theatre, Vital Theatre Company, Millenium Stage Company, TheatreworksUSA, Peccadillo Theatre Company and Kaleidoscope Theatre Company. He has appeared in comedy clubs along the East Coast, including Caroline's Comedy Club in NYC. His TV and film credits include: Toothpaste, Reindeer Games, America's Most Wanted, Ghost Stories, Golf Balls (Blockbuster national release) and Vote Early, Vote Often, a finalist at the Hollywood Film Festival.

  Kathryn Lee Johnston

KATHRYN LEE JOHNSTON (Agnes White) is making her first appearance at GableStage. Still relatively new to S. Florida (she recently moved here from New York), her other performance in the area was a dual role as Ned and Ruthie Taylor in Bat Boy: The Musical at The Shores Performing Arts Theatre. She received her M.F.A. from The University of South Carolina and her B.A. from Indiana University. She considers herself blessed to have appeared at The Shakespeare Theatre in Washington DC in Twelfth Night, The School for Scandal, The Taming of the Shrew, Henry IV, Parts I & II, and Love's Labour's Lost. Some of her favorite roles include performances in Two Rooms, Equus, The Cherry Orchard, Unfinished Business: The A.I.D.S Show and Crimes of the Heart. Film and television appearances include Devil's Advocate, City of Ghosts, Spin City, Welcome to New York and Madigan Men.

  Gregg Weiner

GREGG WEINER (Dr. Sweet) is absolutely thrilled and honored to be working at GableStage. He was last seen in Artful Dodgers at Mad Cat, and as Buck in Betty's Summer Vacation, Summer Shorts Festival 2004 (Carbonell Best Ensemble nomination). He previously appeared as Squirrel in Trembling Hands at the Light Box, Death Defying Acts (Plantation's Mosaic Theatre), Tracers (Juggerknot - Carbonell and SunPost Best Ensemble Awards 2004) and with Trap Door in Cowboy Mouth at Tobacco Road last summer. Gregg has also worked in commercials, TV and film in both S. Florida and in New York City, where he lived and learned for 6 years. He is happy to be back and working in a theatre community that constantly raises the bar for quality work. Let's keep challenging ourselves as artists and people to be soulful and honest. That's all. I'm done preaching. Hey, I left third person bio language. Look at me.
