  Avi Hoffman

AVI HOFFMAN (Max Eisenstein) is very happy to be working with Joseph Adler again, following previous appearances at Gablestage in A Bad Friend, and with his wife Laura Turnbull in Frankie & Johnny In The Clair De Lune, (for which they both received Carbonell nominations for Best Actor/Actress in a Play). This past year he has had the pleasure of working with Laura in Jacques Brel...(PB Dramaworks) for which he received the Curtain Up award and a Carbonell nomination, and Closer Than Ever (Hollywood Playhouse). Other So. Florida productions include: Tevye in Fiddler On The Roof (Curtain Up Award and Carbonell nomination), Freddie Roman's Mishegas (Parker Playhouse) with Jack Carter and Tovah Feldshuh, and Songs Of Paradise (Caldwell Theater). Avi is best known for his award winning Off-Broadway productions, Too Jewish? and Too Jewish, Too!, both of which were highly acclaimed and for which he was named Performer of the Year '95 by NY Press Magazine, as well as receiving the prestigious Los Angeles OVATION award as Best Actor In a Musical 2001. He was also nominated for both the NY Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle awards. He directed and performed in the Joseph Papp production of Songs Of Paradise at the NY Shakespeare Festival/Public Theater. On TV, Mr. Hoffman's Too Jewish? and Too Jewish, Too! are currently being broadcast nationally on the PBS system, under the auspices of WXEL-TV and the newly created 'Fund for Jewish Cultural Programming'. He was featured as 'Teddy Wayne' in the NBC series Law and Order. He starred in the motion picture - The Imported Bridegroom and was seen in the PBS documentary They Came For Good: A History Of the Jews In the U.S. He dedicates this performance to his father Mendl (z'l) and his family who suffered at the hands of the Nazis.


  Ken Clement

KEN CLEMENT (Martin Schulse) is extremely happy to be working with Joe Adler again. His last appearance at GableStage was as the walking $100 bill, as Franklin, in Citizen Tom Paine. Previous credits at GableStage include Karl the Producer in Popcorn (dead by intermission), Ansel the Daddy (Carbonell nom.) in Killer Joe (shot just before the final curtain) and himself in The History of America Abridged (back when it was Florida Shakespeare). Ken was born and raised in South Florida and studied theater with Barbara Lowery at MDC-North. Ken got his first professional break at the Ruth Foreman Theater, working with the late director Bob Bogdanov in the musical Baby and Tennessee William's Sweet Bird of Youth with local legends Jan McCart and Ken Kay. He relocated to Los Angeles in 1987, receiving his BA in Theatre from the California Institute of the Arts Theatre Conservatory. LA credits include MacDuff in MacBeth at the Dramatic New Arts Theatre, William Shakespeare in Damnit Shakespeare at the Globe, PooBah in the Mikado at the Avalon Playhouse and Col. Dr. in Tom Stoppard's E.G.B.D.F. with Patrick Stewart and Roger Reese. Miami credits include Johnny Guitar, Big Bang (Carbonell and Curtain-Up nom.), House and Garden, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, Sherlock's Last Case, and Floyd Collins at Actors' Playhouse; Hamlet, Jacob Marley's Christmas Carol, Tom Walker (Carbonell winner), and the World Premiere of Anna in the Tropics at New Theatre; The Memory of Water and Because He Can at Mosaic Theatre; and Helluva Halloween, Here in My Car, Shepherd's Pie, Shoot, and Portrait at Paul Tei's MadCat Theatre Company. Recently Ken toured the country as Mr. Bumble in Cameron Mackintosh's National Tour of Oliver! Ken can currently be see on television getting his ass kicked by Shaquille O'Neal in a commercial for the video game NBA2K6. As always, Ken is the luckiest son-of-a-bitch he knows.
