ANTONIO AMADEO (Laith) is thrilled to be back at GableStage where he appeared previously in The Pillowman (Carbonell Award for Best Actor), Intimate Apparel and Romance. Antonio recently concluded his fourth Summer Shorts with City Theatre. Other South Florida credits include Valene in The Lonesome West and Romeo in Romeo & Juliet (The Naked Stage); John Merrick in the Elephant Man (Carbonell nominee), Matt in Red Light Winter and Kenneth in Guest Artist (Mosaic Theatre); and Linus in You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown (Actors' Playhouse). He also designed the set for the critically acclaimed 4.48 Psychosis and The Lonesome West with The Naked Stage, the theatre company he founded with his wife Katherine Amadeo and good friend John Manzelli (with whom he's proud to share the stage with now). Antonio can next be seen in The Naked Stage's 24-Hour Theatre Project 2008 at the Miracle Theatre along with John Manzelli, Todd Allen Durkin, Ceci Fernandez and the one and only Joseph Adler! TODD ALLEN DURKIN (Soldier, RSO) has appeared at GableStage in The Little Dog Laughed, The Lieutenant of Inishmore (2007 Carbonell Best Actor Nomination), This is How it Goes and BUG (2006 Carbonell Nominee for Best Actor). After 8 years in NYC, Todd returned to South Florida, appearing at Palm Beach Dramaworks in That Championship Season (2006 Carbonell Award). Other theatrical credits include: Benefactors, Artful Dodgers, Mr. Marmelade, Harold Pinter's Betrayal, The Voice of The Prairie, in the title role in Will Enos' Thom Pain, Artful Dodgers and The Pull of Negative Gravity at the Mosaic Theatre and was seen at Florida Stage in Hatchetman. Additional theatrical credits include Dealers Choice (2006 Carbonell Best Supporting Actor Nomination), Much Ado About Nothing, Midsummer Nights Dream, The Tempest, Love's Labour's Lost, Riff-Cat Polito in The Virtual Adventures of Riff-Cat Polito, BUMP, Beggar on Horseback, Salt-Water Moon, Agamemnon, as Touchstone in As You Like It, as Hamlet in Hamlet and as Lenny Bruce in Julian Barry's Lenny (1995 Best Actor Carbonell Nomination and Miami New Times Best Actor in a Comedy). A Company Member of Mad Cat Theatre, he last seen there in Some Girls. Todd has worked at New York's Cherry Lane Theatre, Theatrix Theatre, Vital Theatre Company, Theatreworks USA and Peccadillo Theatre Company. Todd will appear at Palm Beach Dramaworks this fall as James Tyrone in A Moon for The Misbegotten.
CECI FERNANDEZ (Intisar/Old Woman) is thrilled to be making her GableStage debut. She was last seen in City Theatre's 2008 Shorts For Kids and Undershorts. Past favorites include Mr. Marmalade, Everything Will Be Different and Mister Beast at the Mad Cat Theatre Company and the Carbonell Nominated 2007 Summer Shorts Ensemble. On August 25th you'll find her, alongside some of the most talented artists in the city, at The Naked Stage's 24 Hour Theatre Project. Ceci will be attending The Bristol Old Vic Theatre School in the fall and wants to thank the entire Miami theatre community for making her feel like family. She would also like to thank the Fernandez's, Luaces' and Ramirez's for their love; Alex, Aida, and the Litowitz's for making things possible; the cast, crew and Joe for this wonderful experience; and most importantly, YOU, for supporting theatre.
SCOTT GENN (Samuel Merlin/John Pehle/ Emanuel Cellar) is happy to be at GableStage for another go-round with one of his favorite directors, Joe Adler after his recent appearance in The Accomplices. Audiences may remember him as Brendan in last season's Lieutenant of Inishmore, and also from Smut, in which he played Mario, the lady-slapping cop. He was last seen as Derek in Mister Beast at the Mad Cat Theatre Company, where he proudly resides as a company member. He would like to give thanks, praise, shout-outs and what-have-yous to Mom and Dad, Joe, Paul, Durks, Dubbs, V., Cole, Fabby and most of all, Brooke.
JOHN MANZELLI (Adnan) is thrilled to be returning to GableStage so soon after having the honor of portraying Peter Bergson in The Accomplices. In his second year back from New York, where he spent 5 years working regionally (and meeting his "awesome" wife Jennifer), John is in the middle of his most rewarding season ever in South Florida, appearing in For Better (New Theatre), and The Lonesome West (Naked Stage). John is the Associate Artistic Director of the The Naked Stage and a founding member of the 24 Hour Theatre Project. Currently he is in the process of adapting Macbeth for the Naked Stage (www.Nakedstage.org) for November, and will also fight choreograph and direct the production. John has a MFA from Illinois State University, is a member of the Society of American Fight Directors and is an Assistant Professor of Theatre at Barry University.
BILL SCHWARTZ (Ambassador/Cursing Man/Old Man/AbuAbbas) was professionally active on stage in the 1970's, appearing in dinner theatre, at the Coconut Grove Playhouse and Vinette Carroll's Theatre in New York City. He also performed with Sarasota's Asolo Touring Theatre in a nine-month run, which included the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. Since returning to the professional theatre in 2003, Bill has appeared in The Value of Names and Words of Mass Deception (Hollywood Playhouse), Wait and See, Clarence Darrow's Last Trial, Madagascar, Lincolnesque and Likeness (New Theatre) and Romance (GableStage). Bill is a proud member of Actors' Equity Association. Thanks Joe!
RICKY WAUGH (Prescott) is a proud member of Actors' Equity Association and is honored to be working with such a stellar cast here at GableStage, where he recently appeared in Conor McPherson's Shinning City. Mr. Waugh made his South Florida debut in the Vietnam War drama Medal of Honor Rag at The M Ensemble Theatre Company in North Miami. From 2005 to 2007, Ricky was a company member of The PlayGround Theatre for Young Audiences in Miami Shores, performing in shows such as Pluft the Little Ghost, Brooklyn Bridge, The Love of Three Oranges, The Beast, The Steadfast Tin Soldier, Arthur Miller's Creation of the World and Other Business and A Very Old Man with Enormous Wings. He also appeared last summer as part of New Theatre's Shakespeare Festival, performing feature roles in The Tragedy of Cymbeline, Julius Caesar, and Saint Joan. The Theatre League of South Florida recently bestowed Mr. Waugh with the Silver Palm Award for his Outstanding Performances in Nilo Cruz's Two Sisters and a Piano (Promethean Theatre) and The Mission (New Theatre). Ricky would especially like to thank Jeanette Taylor for her love and guidance.
